Pedro Dinis

Pedro Dinis Gaspar has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. He is a Permanently Appointed Assistant Professor at the Department of Electromechanical Engineering at the University of Beira Interior (UBI).

He is an integrated researcher at the R&D Center for Mechanical and Aerospace Science and Technologies (C-MAST), a researcher at the Food4Sustainability Collaborative Laboratory and a collaborating researcher at the Assisted Living Computing (ALLab) and Telecommunications Laboratory, at the Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT). He was the conductor/collaborator of more than 15 Master’s or Bachelor’s Curricular Units (UCs).

He is currently a professor (regent/collaborator) in curricular units such as Quantitative Decision Support Methods, Industrial Air Conditioning and Cold, Industrial Robotics and Industrial Automation. Additionally, he has taught UC Renewable Energies and Energy. He has supervised several PhD theses and Master’s dissertations.

He is the Director of the Master’s cycle of studies in Industrial Engineering and Management (2nd cycle). He was already Director of the degree (1st cycle) and master’s (2nd cycle) courses in Mechanical Engineering, and of the master’s course (2nd cycle) in Bioengineering at the University of Beira Interior.

He is also pedagogical coordinator of the Technological Specialization Courses (CET) in Production Management, Automation, Robotics and Industrial Control, Mechatronics Technology and Production Supervision promoted by the Association for Vocational and Technological Training of Beira Interior (AFTEBI), of which UBI is associated. Develops research in the prediction and optimization of processes and systems, and in the development of robotic or automated systems.

His research focuses on refrigeration equipment/systems and technological systems for the agro-industry. In addition, he has coordinated/participated in several national and international projects, as well as in R&D&T contracts with the industry.
