He was a secondary school teacher from 1982 to 1985; was a Tourism Technician.
He was a Deputy in the Assembly of the Republic between 2005 and 2008.
He was President of the Tourism Region of São Mamede from 1995 to 2008, and with the extinction of the Tourism Regions was President of the Installing Committee of the Regional Tourism Area do Alentejo and President of the Alentejo Regional Tourism Entity from 2008 to 2020.
He has been President of the Commission for Coordination and Regional Development of Alentejo since October 2020.
He was Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre.
He has a Tourism Inspector Course at the Porto Superior School of Hospitality and Tourism; It is degree in Tourism from the Higher Education School of Portalegre; have the course Master in Management of Tourist Destinations by the Superior School of Hospitality and Tourism of Estoril and PhD student in Tourism at IGOT – Institute of Geography and Planning of Territory.
He has a Postgraduate Degree in Tourism from the Catholic University
